Jade/Andrew Walton wrote - Even with the rain lashing down you couldn’t stop the hardcore 16 from attending the 6th round of The Poker Tree’s ‘summer’ season at The Magpie. On table 1 the action was fast and furious with Miguel busting out on the very first hand. Len ‘The Dealer’, not to be outdone followed the very next hand. Josh ‘Pokersquaddie’ now with an immense chip lead took control and bullied the table. Simon not wearing his lucky top was soon to bust out and join Miguel and ‘The dealer’ on the sidelines, leaving five players to fight for the remaining final table seat. Barry, with an eye on the league and a small stack of chips just bided his time waiting for the inevitable. Which didn’t take long; MJ and ‘Moanie Doris’ decided it was time for action and went all in against the chip leader.... alas to no avail; giving ‘Pokersquaddie’ an unassailable chip lead which he took to the final table, and made sure everyone knew about it. Meanwhile on table 2 the action was more sedate with only one fatality before the break. The action remained controlled with VJ amassing chips at a steady rate. Until that is, that four players though they had ‘the hand’ and went all in; Adrian with pocket 10’s, VJ with a misread flush draw, Paul with pocket 77’s and Baz on a flush draw. Adrian made his set on the flop, VJ paired his King, Paul missed the flop and Baz was now on a straight flush/flush draw. With everyone all in and the cards on their backs Adrian’s set just had to hold two streets. The turn helped no one and neither did the River. Adrian doubled up and VJ took the side pot with his K’s. A very quiet Kev displaced Ben to make the final table along with VJ, Adrian and Martin. With a final table of 7 it was a mixed bag of aggression, reason, bluff and luck. Martin felt the heat early on and was dispatched in 7th place. It was sure to end in tears as VJ with pocket QJ suited went against Pokersquaddie pocket AA. With a flop of QAJ Pokersquaddie made his set while VJ made 2 pair. The turn helped neither player, however, the river helped both, VJ made his full house and raised 1K to Pokersquaddie who was also sitting with a full house A’s over Q’s, and assuming VJ isn’t holding pocket QQ’s he has the nuts, while VJ has the nuts provided Pokersquaddie hisn’t holding pocket AA’s. Pokersquaddie went all in; VJ called and left the table in 6th place. Both Kev and Barry played a tight game but were not to cash, finishing in 5th and 4th respectively. Down to three it was Adrian to fall first, finishing 3rd (yeah baby) leaving Pokersquaddie and Steve to go heads up. In this showdown Steve was super aggressive against the table bully of the night and taught him a thing or two about heads up play crushing his opponent into a no cash 2nd place. Well played Steve and congrats on your first win. The top of the league is getting tighter now with Barry reclaiming first place, Adam slipping to second while Baz remained in third. VJ is up to forth while Pokersquaddie is mounting his charge on the league in 5th place and now only 1100 points separates him from top spot. My player of the week is Steve, who, in only his second appearance not only made the final table to maintain his 100% success rate, but took down the tourney too.

Jade/Andrew Walton wrote - Well what a turn out, 25 players over three tables, four next week at this rate. Nice to see new players as well as all those returning players. Congrats to Adam who is the first person to win it 2 times, which puts him back on top of the league after Barry who failed to reach the all important final table. Also congrats to Josh who has finally put in a decent performance to finish a close second. Next week we're changing it slightly, it's now gonna be an 8:30 sharp start, but please turn up from 8:00 onwards for registration etc. No trouble with player of the week, well done Adam.

Jade/Andrew Walton wrote - Congrats to VJ who claimed his first victory ahead of MJ who is now showing his potential. A little disapointing for Barry and Adam who didn't score as much as they hoped, with the latter falling to third overall. A mention to both Martin and Len who are proving to be solid players and will be in the running towards the end, incidently both only having played three rounds. Finally, a footnote to 'Pokersquaddie' who came disapointing 14th and cost him a pint to second place man Baz, who clearly is a better player than PS. No guessing who wrote this weeks blog.........

Jade/Andrew Walton wrote - Thanks to everyone for turning up for our third poker night, we're now up to 14 players and in the middle of the holiday season, won't be long before we're up to 3 tables. Barry seems to be the player to beat with 2700 points after finishing 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Hope to see you all next week.
