How It Works
How the Poker League operates
The League runs for 17 consecutive weeks which make up one season. We have 3 seasons during the year – Summer, Autumn/Winter & Spring.
Venues can sign-up anytime during a season and this does not affect the outcome of the league.
Players can join anytime during a season. Each player has to register when they first join and is issued with a membership number. Membership cards and registration forms are provided free of charge.
Each player plays for point but you can also pay a £5.00 stake at the start of the game, which is then held behind the bar or with a responsible player.
At the end of the game, you are left with only one winner and the prize money can be shared out. Normally the top three players of each game would receive the money in a sliding scale, although it is up to the players to decide the format before the game commences.
Players gain points each time they play and points are calculated according to the place the player attains in each game. The points are registered on the score sheet by the Tournament Director or appointed person and added to the League Table via our online system.
Venues have the option to either enter their league score themselves via the website or send them to us by fax or post using our prepaid envelope. League scores are updated weekly and players are able to check their points via our website.
This gives players a unique way to monitor their progress within the League and adds an element of competition to the game with the incentive to win one of the major cash prizes and/or holidays at one of our Finals.
A player can play at as many venues as they wish, and will appear in the overall League Table as well as each venues individual table. The top 2 positions from each venue at the end of each season, will automatically qualify as well as the top 10 positions from the overall leagues combined, a small incentive for players to play in more than one venue per week to qualify for a regional place.
As well as each pub/venue having its own League Table and statistics for each player, there is also a National League Table that shows where the players are within the league – detailing participating every player in the country. The venue that each player is associated with is also displayed.
Point’s allocation
At each game there will be over 5000 points awarded for that night, all of which will be allocated to all of those players participating.
1st = 1000 Points
2nd = 900 Points
3rd = 800 Points
4th = 700 Points
5th = 600 Points
6th = 500 Points
7th = 400 Points
8 th = 300 Points
100 points for all others players who turn up and get knocked out.
